Is Your Body’s ‘Check Engine Light’ On?

Do you ever feel like your body’s ‘check engine light’ has been on and your still driving it like “nah, it’ll be fine”?

If we use this metaphor to explain our bodies you’ll discover a lot of people, some who I am now working with, have been living their lives with their ‘check engine lights’ on for quite some time now.

Is this you?

I’ve written about using intermittent fasting as a way to heal from the inside out, a form of putting your body into the mechanics for repair, this is just one protocol, but if you don’t currently have a habit like this then how do you know when it’s the right time?

Here are some pretty obvious signs your ‘check engine lights’ are on and your body and mind need some attending to:

  • When you begin to feel lethargic or weak.
  • When you notice a negative shift in your behavior or mood.
  • When you feel generally more unhealthy.
  • When you lack the motivation to do anything.
  • When your are constantly getting sick.
  • When your are no longer recovering from your workouts.

Don’t ignore your bodies ‘check engine lights’!

There are so many different kinds (only a few above, but plenty more) of ‘check engine lights’ that our bodies try to warn us with.

Be better to yourself.

Don’t treat your body like a machine that can be worn down day after day without care.

Pay attention when it tells you it needs some rest, repair and recovery.

You may not feel like you understand the reasons behind its different ‘check engine lights’ now, but the more you try to listen, the more in-tune with your body and mind the more you’ll become and eventually you’ll feel more capable of giving it the attention it needs.
